Travel back in time - aboard the most modern of transport devices - on a five-mile Segway tour along the historic Minneapolis waterfront. The Segway, a stabilized gyroscopic "human transporter" capable of speeds up to 10mph, does the legwork; a professional guide leads the group. All tours last about three hours, and start with a training session. Helmet rental and a snack at the Mill City Museum are included. Tours are open to ages 13 to 80, with a weight restriction of 280 lbs. per rider.
tips:
There's no point pretending Segway tours don't attract a lot of stares from onlookers, and that might inhibit some people from signing up. But if you're considering it, know that the riders always look like they're having too much fun to notice any unwanted attention!
getting there:
Join tours at the St. Anthony Main storefront location, situated along the river, across from Nicollet Island. Street parking is not bad for such an area, but there is also ramp and surface parking at 2nd Avenue NE.
