The
Senator John Heinz History Center offers original artifacts and interactive exhibits that reveal the scope and impact of the region's past.
The
Senator John Heinz History Center is an affiliate of the
Smithsonian Institution and the largest history museum in Pennsylvania. The facility also includes the
Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.
While many of the displays inside the museum are intended for older kids and adults, children age 10 and younger can enjoy two special "kids-only" areas that offers hands-on, interactive fun:
Kidsburgh - a two-tier play area featuring a 12-foot spiral slide like Pittsburgh's Liberty Tunnels - and
Discovery Place, an exhibit where kids can learn about local history while they play.
