Located in Winter Park's recently reinvigorated Hannibal Square neighborhood, Shady Park offers a casual place for families to picnic, take a break from shopping, or play in the splash fountain.

The park is next to Winter Park's Community Center and provides plenty of shade - hence the name - with a few benches under the large tree canopy. The tables are a popular place for locals to meet for a game of checkers or chess.

The splash water fountain features jumping water and plenty of water spouts to keep kids entertained - and soaked. Restrooms are located in the Community Center if kids need a place to dry off, but shirts and shoes are required for entry.

Parking can be difficult, especially during the week. The Hannibal Square area has seen plenty of renovation and popular cafes and stores line New England Avenue, leaving parking spots few and far between. Even the large lot across from the Community Center is filled during lunchtime with business patrons visiting Dexter's Restaurant, so plan to park on a side street and take a walk.
