Shaker Heights Public Library knows how to get kids and families to use a library: families can snuggle up on a couch and share a story, watch the gerbils, work on a puzzle, play educational games on computer workstations, use library toys, and of course, browse the shelves for books to borrow.
The Play and Learn Station on the second floor is a big draw for preschoolers and their parents; the Teen Center provides older kids (ages 12 through 16) with a place to hang out and do homework during the school year (Mon-Thu, 3:30pm-8pm; Fri 3:30-5pm).
Local artists also display and sell their work in gallery on the second floor.
