Younger children may not completely understand the distinct language, drama, and pacing of a Shakespeare play, but the Shakespeare Festival
's lively atmosphere, picnicking on the green, 20-minute mini-play that introduces the characters and plot of the mainstage play, and the pre-show activities
- including musical ensembles, dancers, jugglers, clowns, and hands-on art projects - might just inspire them to say, as Celia does in As You Like It
, "I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it!"
The festival is held at Forest Park
and all seating is first come, first served
; bring your favorite blanket or folding lawn chair and set up camp in the cool grass.
