    about Shakespeare Festival:

Younger children may not completely understand the distinct language, drama, and pacing of a Shakespeare play, but the Shakespeare Festival's lively atmosphere, picnicking on the green, 20-minute mini-play that introduces the characters and plot of the mainstage play, and the pre-show activities - including musical ensembles, dancers, jugglers, clowns, and hands-on art projects - might just inspire them to say, as Celia does in As You Like It, "I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it!"

The festival is held at Forest Park and all seating is first come, first served; bring your favorite blanket or folding lawn chair and set up camp in the cool grass.

    tips:

A limited number of chairs are available to rent for $10 per chair in the first section, and $7 per chair in the second section. Thursday performances are signed for the hearing impaired.

    getting there:

The festival is held on the east side of Art Hill in Forest Park, between the Saint Louis Art Museum and the Saint Louis Zoo, just off Fine Arts Drive.
