Families can see for themselves how the family-owned and operated Shatto Milk Company processes their milk and dairy products from the farm and into the company's distinctive glass bottles.

Farm tours are available by appointment Tue-Sat throughout the year. On the 1.5-hour tour, you can milk a cow, check out the cows' digs and see baby calves, learn how milk is processed, and sample fresh dairy products. The farm also holds several special events during the year; check the website for details.

And, when you're finished checking out the farm, be sure and stop by the Country Store for Shatto Milk products and to catch a glimpse of the bottling plant through the windows.

getting there:

From Kansas City, take I-35 North to exit 40, Highway 116. Turn west (left) on Highway 116, and go through Lathrop and head toward Plattsburg. About four miles west of Lathrop, turn north on 33 Highway. Continue for about eight miles until you see the farm on the east (right) side of the road.
