The family-friendly
Shield's restaurants, dotted across the city, offer burgers, pastas, sandwiches, and salads in addition to pizza.
Try the Davison Burger, made famous at the restaurant's original Detroit location, on Davison and Shields Street. It's a 1/2-lb. grilled burger topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese. Follow it up with the Motor City Sundae: Stroh's vanilla ice cream topped with
Sanders hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry.
A
kids' menu lists the expected: pizza, spaghetti, chicken strips, and grilled cheese.
Shield's does offer healthier options, like grilled chicken and fresh-cut veggies, too.
The restaurant has
party rooms, offers three different party plans for less than $10.50/person, and also caters. The party minimum is 15 people and 48-hours' notice is needed.
Many of the restaurants have
wandering clowns who make balloon animals for kids. Some also feature visits from special characters, such as Thomas the Train or Cinderella.
