Silver Gate Yacht Club Summer Sailing Camp553

The Silver Gate Yacht Club (SGYC) Junior Sailing Foundation Summer Sailing Camp is designed for junior sailors aged eight to 18. During camp, the sailors learn the essentials of sailing, sportsmanship, responsibility, and acquire a sense of adventure and accomplishment.

The program is supported by the Silver Gate Junior Sailing Foundation, a 501 ©3 non-profit organization. The Program includes a full day summer program and a continuing year-round follow up. In addition, students who become yearly Junior members of SGYC can participate in club activities such as the Wheel Chair Regatta and Opening Day.

All applicants are admitted, space permitting, into the summer program. New students must register for the first and second week. Typically, by the third week of instruction, the new junior has advanced enough to engage in either racing instruction or solo-navigation instruction under the supervision of the on-the-water instructors.

Classes are taught by certified instructors. Students must be able to swim to begin classes and are given a water safety test before getting into a boat. Additional details about the program can be found on the website.
