Silver River State Park features 15 miles of nature trails for hiking and biking, horse trails, picnic pavilions, built-in grills, playgrounds, and interpretive exhibits throughout the park. Visitors can also canoe and kayak. The park also features a full-facility campground, RV camping, and 10 luxury cabins.
The park is also home to the
Silver River Museum and Environmental Education Center, a joint project of the Marion County Public School System and the Florida Park Service. The complex consists of a museum, classroom buildings, a lunch pavilion, research library, a late 1800s pioneer "Cracker" settlement, and a circa 1930s one-room schoolhouse once used by African-American students during segregation. During the school year, the center is used by the school as a satellite campus, and only open to the public on weekends. In June and July, the center is open Tuesday through Sunday.
