This bronze eight-foot statue is a tribute to the kite-flying man himself. Even though he left Beantown when he was 17, Bostonians consider Ben to be one of their own. Opposite Ben Franklin's Statue on School Street, look for a mosaic design in the sidewalk called City Carpet. This design marks the site of the First Public School in the country. If you look closely at the design, you can make out the name of some of its most famous graduates - Ben Franklin, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams.
