tips:
Park in the back of the building - the main entrance is there. Also, if art projects that are not dry when you're ready to go, the studio can hold artwork for pick up for one week.

Located 1/4 mile inside I-285 on Atlanta Road, in Smyrna. From Buckhead, take Paces Ferry to Woodland Brook to Log Cabin Rd.

I am one of those parents who has tried everything for my kids in the Atlanta area. I have been searching for the activity that matches their interests and talents best. I have found that place! My 5 year old is learning aspects of art and art appreciation that I would never think to introduce to her. She has created pojects that rival those of major, well-know artists such as Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali. :) She truly grasps the in-depth lessons that are presented on artists and their methods before she heads to the "studio" to create. Daddy-O has an amazing way of delivering the instruction. He does a great job sharing his impressive knowlege in a patient and nurturing way. The fact that she looks forward to the next class as soon as one ends is all I need to realize that this studio is exceptional. My 3 year old and 1 year old LOVE the endless oportunities of open studio as well as the waiting area. And this mommy loves to hang out with the warm and wonderful moms in the cafe.

I took our 5 year old son here for 2 hours of open studio so I could get some work done. I liked how the staff helped him find projects and worked with him when he needed it. We signed up for lessons that day and this is now his favourite activity. We've tried 2 other art schools in town and they were good but this one really is by far the best. The teachers and the work the kids to produce will amaze you!

My 4 year old son has taken two sessions of classes at Sketchy's and he is obsessed with the place. If you don't take a class with Daddy-O, boy, are you missing out!! Unlike other studios where we have taken classes, the instructor actually teaches your child the fundamentals of art and design. These are no cut-and-paste art projects. These are real, creative projects that reflect your child's personality. My son's love for art has really blossomed since attending Sketchy's. Also, my 18 month old has a blast with the toys out in the waiting area while his brother has classes. I relax with coffee and have met some extraordinary women and awesome conversations during that time (including Mommy-O). Some moms choose to get some work done on laptops and such. Open studio is awesome!! You can expect your child to do all sorts of interesting projects in there. The staff will give suggestions and help with supplies, but open studio is all about your child. The supplies are not foam shape stickers but really interesting and creative materials in all shapes and sizes.

Sketchy's is a one stop-shop for our entire family! Daughters ages 9 & 5 both love the place. The 9 yr old has been taking classes non-stop since Sketchy's opened. My 5 yr old hasn't taken class, but has done open studio and has a great time. She even has a great time just hanging around waiting for the 9 yr old to get out of class. The entire place is filled with fun things to do and look at and keep your imagination and your child's going. I have taken an adult art class there and can't wait to start the next one. My husband and I have been to several Adult Evening events and had a really great time. Sketchy's has something different to do for everyone. Oh yeah I almost forgot the birthday parties. Not only did we have my 9yr olds party (completely customized to her personality) there but we also had my husband's 40th there. It was an amazing adult evening. The owners worked closely with me to make sure it was everything a 40th birthday should be. We even did an art project which was part of my husband's present. Again... completely customized for him. I guess what it comes down to is if you and your family value a place to explore your creativity with very few boundries this is a place the whole family will enjoy.

This was a great place for my son's birthday party. It was also convenient since I live in the area. Everyone really enjoyed it. Very talented, creative people.

My 4 year old and I visited Sketchy's this afternoon. We both had a great time! The environment is great and there is so many different art projects to do...the possibilities are endless. I found the owners and staff to be friendly and great with kids! We will visit again! I loved the coffee too. My daughter said she wanted to stay there all day so what does that tell you!

My almost-4-year-old daughter had a wonderful time painting, stamping, writing with chalk, coloring, and making clay pieces. The staff were really helpful, patient, and enthusiastic, too.

I went to sketchy's last week with my 3-year old and 11-month. From the moment I walked in, I was blown away with this place. With an art history background, I appreciate how they encourage the creative process and personalize each childs experience. When we arrived, my little boy had just woken up from a power nap from the car ride over and was a little groggy but the sweet art assistant was perceptive to his needs and engaged him quickly by asking him what he liked and without missing a beat, they started making train tracks, pulling matchbox car wheels through paint. I felt that Sketchy's is a place that fuels creativity, being sensitive to the different ways that children learn. The retro motif is welcoming and comfortable, I can see our children develop with such nurturing environment as an outlet.

I cannot imagine not being impressed with this HIP joint! I took my two and a half year old little boy to Sketchy's and was thoroughly impressed! We will absolutely be back-- thanks for taking care of us :). He is a busy body and loves to run to and fro and the owners/ instructors gave us about 15 different activities to keep him entertained-- while checking in on us (and me) consistently. We can't wait to go back. After an hour and a half, my son and I left with about 6 different projects, and I had some delicious flavored coffee! What a great way to get us out of the house, interact with one another, AND have the supplies and clean up provided. THANKS again!

I took my twin girls to Sketchy's for the first time about 2 weeks ago and they loved it! We went with some other kids (ages 4-5) from their preschool and I think everyone (including the moms) had a wonderful time! The owners were very welcoming and helpful. There were lots of activities for the children to choose from. And, I was very impressed with the variety of supplies available. We used to go to another studio that did not have even half of what Sketchy's offers. My girls made so many cute things and look forward to going back! I think it is a great place to go on your own with your kids or to plan a small group playdate! It was well worth the money!!!(Great coffee and treats). Thank you so much! :o):o) P.S. I was sorry to read a review by someone who was disappointed. She seemed to expect to have her young children (not yet 3!) entertained while she relaxed. Most places require adult supervision by the parent/caregiver. Little gym classes require the parent to be in the class for kids 3 and under. This is not a babysitting service...it is simply a fun place to go when you want to get out of your house and have something fun to do with your kids. All of the moms and I checked in on our children from time to time and it was not a big deal. In fact, one of the owners even encouraged us to go have some coffee and relax.

The studio is designed to provide children 3 and older the opportunity to explore and experiment with an abundance of truly unique and inspiring art materials. Our goal is to foster creative thinking skills in children of all ages. Our instructors are always available should you or your child need assistance getting those creative juices flowing. Some of the materials and products we use in the studio, while non-toxic and washable according to the manufacturers, require that parents and caregivers supervise children under age 3. However, if you are interested in instructor led classes for your children before they turn 3, please contact us regarding Mommy & Me classes. We really hope you'll give us another chance. Thanks!

I went there with 2 children...they are almost 3....but I didn't get to sit in the adult area...I was told I had to stay in there with the kids. There are NO adult chairs or sitting areas in there at ALL!!!! My back was so sore after this!! Plus, I thought someone would come in and do an activity or something with them...nope. we were on our own.....I could have done this AT HOME! There was nothing there that we don't have at home. I was looking forward to having someELSE interact with the kids while I could take a little break...BUT NOPE it didn't happen. They seemed more concerned about setting up for some sort of party or class or something. At one point a man came in and gave them some paint and coffee filters, which was nice of him, but I paid $20 for this?

We've gone to Sketchy's twice now and really have enjoyed it. The first visit was with playgroup friends and the second time by ourselves. My son (3.5 years) has made some really cool projects. He also really enjoys the fun extra stuff they have around, like the old adding machine and the found items moveable sculpture. There's an adequate area for my 9 month old to play in (toys, table to pull up on, etc.), but like all things, it's hard to pay attention to the one when the other's likely to cause a disaster. Having the assistant there is invaluable. I'd like to see some electric plug covers in the play area, but that's me and my "gotta touch everything" boys.

If your looking for a fun place for the kids to be creative and wanting a little mommy down time, then this is the perfect spot to meet both those needs. While your child plays with all the fun art stuff, (with the help of the Sketchy's staff), and moms get to chill out in the coffee lounge and do whatever they want hands free of the kid juggle.
Parents can sit back, relax or telecommute, while kids are motivated and inspired. No muss, no fuss.

The whole family enjoy's Sketchy's. My daughter ( age 8 and a compulsive "drawing" kinda gal ) loves the place. She looks forward to her time there all week long. My son ( age "almost" 5 ) has an eye problem and is way behind on his eye/hand coordination. To him drawing is something HARD and unpleasant. After spending time in the open studio he has opened his eyes - and he drew 3 pictures in a row for me!!! ( before that I'd never received a picture from him that wasn't angry frustrated scribbles on a page ) My husband likes the wifi and feels comfortable taking him there by himself. And I, mom, like to go too. For one hour I can sit in a comfortable chair and just zone out.

Sketchy's is amazing my kids can't get enough of it and for me it is a relaxing free hour where I can chat with friends or just sit and think. This is unlike any other art studio!

I took my 2 year old daughter last week and she had so much fun. I was amazed at the offerings in the open studio and the staff is just wonderful. The owners definitely have a knack for knowing what will capture a child's attention and seem to really want to foster that creativity. I can't wait to go back!

This is not like any other kid place I have ever gone to with my kids. The studios have terrific space for the kids to work on their masterpieces and the plexiglass walls kept me in on the action without having to directly supervise. I even got COFFEE! Very comfortable for parents & according to my kids (ages 3, 7 & 9) that was soooo fun!
