Slate Run Living Historical Farm features a hog shed, poultry barn, and several other attractions where visitors can learn about and help with chores on a working 1880s farm.

A primitive campground can be reserved through the park offices.The 1,705 acres that comprise Slate Run sit on dark shale, not slate, as early settlers believed.

Thirteen miles of trails wind through the park - and the trails are well-documented at the website.

Birders have happily reported that more than 70 species of birds have been spotted at the property, including red-winged blackbirds, meadowlarks, indigo bunting, and belted kingfishers.
