Snippets Mini-Cuts2514

The place is cute and they always have done a good job on my sons hair. My sister, who is a cosmotologist, used to do it for him but it just ended up being a pain and mess to do at home. My there stylist has always blended his hair well and to what I want. Maybe some people on here just got stuck with a bad stylist. As far as the receptionist goes... yeah it's usally a teen but come on its a kids place.

We go to snippets with great expectations every time, and every time we are pleased. Lincoln Park is our favorite, we have had every stylist and love them all. It's a hard job working with children but even harder when they don't cooperate as well (like mine) a appreciate a nice smile and patience.

The best I can say is that my kids were not injured. We never go to Snippets, but had time to get cuts for all 3 kids (ages 3-girl, 6-girl, 9-boy) while wating for a movie at Northbrook Court. I won't even bother talking about the receptionist who could not get out of his seat no matter what, and had an attitude quite out of proportion to the surroundings. Cindy talked on her cell phone during my son's entire haircut, which now looks crooked and asinine, as thought pieces were cut at random. At the age of 9 he can sit still - I'd hate to see how a squirmer would have come out. My middle daughter has all one length, no bangs hair (simple), but there was a long layer. The next day I realized while she was in the bath that one big lock of her hair is the old length (3 inches longer), and the layer that we said we wanted to keep is gone - just blunt ends. Ugh. I will never go back!

Could not stay and get a haircut because of the overall chemical smell of the place. I wanted a kids salon so I would not need to have my little girl exposed to the noxious fumes of dyes, perms etc from adult salons. Looks like a nicely designed place but without pure air I can't suggest it.

I have 1yr old twin boys & was terrified to take them for their 1st cut. They had a great time driving the car & watching the video. They hardly noticed they got their hair cut. They were a little upset when their turn was over & had to get out. Plus the hair-stylist did a great job. I would recommend Kyria at the Lombard site to anyone. The price is a little steep ($15), but worth it for the kids comfort.

My son loves every visit to Snippets. The toys, cars, little TV's, music, etc. But being a parent watching the process is stressful. The staff could do a LOT more to make it a positive experience, but in most cases they treat it like a haircut factory. We LOVED Ricardo, who has since left (receptionist said he took too much time with each kid and was reprimanded for it!), and have found Tom and Kathy good. Have tried two other women who were AWFUL (made my son feel bad, gave too-quick, crooked haircuts)...I would stick with the names recommended here and it won't be a bad experience.

We took our 13-month old son to snippets on Clybourn for his first haircut. The atmosphere was fun yet not too overwhelming. He LOVED sitting in and steering the car. The hairstylist was quick and efficient, but it didn't feel rushed. Was a great experience for all of us. Plus, his haircut is so cute!

Well, unfortunately, I think we had a bad stylist for my son's first cut. I got my son home and his hair was really crooked on the sides. I have heard Tom is an awesome stylist, so we will try and book him next time. $20 is kind of a lot for a baby's cut, so I want it to be GOOD! On the plus side, my son had a great time riding in the car and I was able to take some fabulous photos.

My husband and I took our 16 month old daughter for her first haircut (with cameras in hand). An hair "stylist" (I use this word very loosely) gave our daughter the worst haircut I've ever seen. She also cut her hair in 3 minutes and rushed the haircut. She was not friendly and was actually cold. At first we didn't realize how bad her haircut was until we got home (and when her hair dried). Our daughter now looks like a boy and her haircut looks like Frankenstein. The back of her hair actually has squared corners (as opposed of being rounded). I was pretty clear as to how I wanted her hair (styled and lightly trimmed, not short). Looks like someone placed a box on top of her head and just started cutting away. I called to complain about it when I got home and was offered a free haircut by someone else to clean it up, but didn't want this. Will be getting my own stylist to clean up my daughter's hair. I'm embarrassed to take her to daycare this week. Hair is hair and it shouldn't matter that someone is 16 months old versus being an adult. Although this is my first experience at Snippets and maybe we just got a lemon, however, the cut was soooo bad, that it left a sour taste in my mouth and will never go back or recommend this.

I had my son's hair cut here. We had an appointment but still waited 15 minutes. The receptionist didn't ask us to sit down or point out the toy area - she just said the stylist wasn't ready yet. When we were finally called over, I was told I could sit my son in either 'car'. The first one was covered in hair from the previous cut so we moved to the other - which wasn't much better. They did give a quick, good quality cut but I won't be back. I'll try the other places and if worse comes to worse, take him to my salon.

It wasn't until our second visit that it was a great experience for all of us once we found a stylist (Teresa) that was a great match. Our styist read the cues from our 2 year old and was so understanding, gentle, and easy going about handling him. She gave him a great cut and handled him so kindly. I greatly appreciate Teresa and would highly recommend her and Snippets. Just make sure you and your child are comfortable with your stylist. It's the best way to ensure a great haircut and happy child and parent.

I took my daughter to Snippets for her first haircut. We were lucky that Julie was assigned to us. She is calm, great with kids and the cut was fabulous. We returned for the next eighteen months only because we saw Julie. The salon itself is loud, the toy area is dirty and disorganized and there is no room for a parent to sit or for a child to wait while you pay. Word is that that management treats the stylists poorly as well.

Complaints I've seen about competitor Kidsnips apply here as well. Our Snippet's stylist didn't introduce herself, and communicated minimally with me before she started cutting. The result-my daughter's long curls are gone and she has a distinctly "little boy" haircut. The staff were all nice enough, but it doesn't make up for a horrible cut.

We accidently went to Kid Snips for our child's first haircut. We recently moved to Chicago and had been told about Snippet's, but thought that Kid Snips was Snippet's and ended up there for our child's first cut. It was a disaster. Our friend was surprised and then realized that we went to the wrong salon when we told them about the toy store part of it (there was no way to get out of there without buying a toy to pacify our screaming child). We just came home from Snippet's where Josh did not sit still but still got a great haircut. Julie took care of him and evidently she's been there for a while. She was great!
