I just took my 4yr old daughter there for her first hair cut. The welcome was not great.

I took my son to his first haircut at another salon. It was a great cut. They weren't open on a Sunday tho, so despite the low ratings, I took my son here. Brought a totally do-able photo along. The woman looked at it for literally a second, said "sure, sure" then cut it how she wanted, ending up with a totally lop-sided cut. I was chatting with another parent in the shop before our cut asking her how she liked the cuts and she shrugged saying, "it's convenient to our house--that's about it." What a waste of $19 and a beautiful head of hair. :o(

It's been our experience that haircutting salons are SUPER careful about that - especially ones that cater to kids. And even though she says her child "hasn't been anywhere else" for two weeks, unless he's been in a box he could have gotten it anywhere. Lice happen, they're a pain to get rid of, but it's not the end of the world and it's not likely it came from a salon.

I am really surprised and disappointed with the few bad reviews read on this site... Anyone who's a regular customer of SC knows better! There is no fear of head lice - I was in the Berkeley store once waiting and overheard the cutter tell "mom" that she couldn't cut her son's hair that day due to his having lice and even went so far as to give her advise on how to rid the lice and sweetly suggested they return upon getting rid of it. Anyway, I've been taking my children there for years now (even though they're growing up :( and have never been disappointed! Thanks Snippety!!

We went there and gotten HEAD LICE THERE(my son didn't go ANYWHERE for two weeks EXCEPT to SNIPPETTY CRICKETS) - THE NEXT DAY HIS HAIR STARTED TO ITCH. I AM STUNNED. ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS PUT THE COMB IN A HOT WATER AND THEY WOULDN'T INFECT HIM. I AM NEVER GOING AGAIN!!!

For the money that you pay, this place is not worth it. My son chair sat still on the chair, he still had a very uneven hair cut. You'll be better off cutting your own kids hair.

We took our 14 month son here for a haircut and they did a simple boy's cut on him within around 7 minutes. Sprayed the hair, scissor-cut for layering, clippered the back to block it. He played with a vibrating train game for the whole time. The cut cost $19 (I left a tip as well). This district of town is filled with designer "uber-baby" boutiques. Snippety Crickets is more like a homestyle barber shop.

Our son needed his first haircut already at the age of 5 months, and since then he gets them regularly every other month at Snippety crickets. It has been the perfect place for this because they are so quick and efficient. I'm amazed at how well they can do this even when he cries or tries to move his head away (he doesn't like getting shampoos, brushing his hair, or wearing hats, so it's no surprise that having a stranger lean over him with scissors snipping around his face and head is a little upsetting to him). We always tell them what we want and are rarely disappointed with the results. If your child's first haircut is after they are of an age that they can sit still and understand a little of what's going on, then you might want a different place to make it more of a special experience. But in our case, we just look for the fastest experience possible that comes out with good results.

My son had a terrible experience at Snippety Crickets. They butchered his hair with an ugly bowl cut, after a 30 minute wait (this despite having had an appointment). He was in and out of the chair in five minutes, and the hair "stylist "started cutting before I had a chance to explain what I wanted. I had to get his hair fixed at another salon the next day. You'll get a better cut and better service at SuperCuts! Avoid this place!

Hair stylist had no concept of how to style hair for the particular child's face, nor do they listen to recommendation/suggestions of the parents. ugh, I can't wait until it grows out.

Took our son there for his first haircut. The small place was run down. The lady cutting and lady at the counter were both unfriendly. My son got a train toy shoved into his hand and left with an average haircut. Very disappointing.

Ihave been taking my 2.5 yr old there for about 1 yr and we always come out with a great cut. She has curly hair and is a bit difficult to cut. Once we leave, she has beautiful ringlets again. i would reccomend.

...my kids to Snippety Crickets and my kids LIKE getting their hair cut a LOT (perhaps it's the lollipop and toys...) I've been asked where my daugher had her hair cut by no fewer than 50 parents in the past year. I always ask for Anna, I always talk about the cut with her first, and it's really that cute. On occasions we've ventured elsewhere, their haircuts have been inferior. My only beef is parking as I don't live nearby.

I take my two year old son who hates to have his haircut here. When I do it myself it literally takes me an hour and a half of kicking, screaming and bribing (terrible I know). We go into Snippety Crickets and walk out 15 minutes (max) later with a cute if very average haircut. They give him a little train game to play with and he sits still, my time is definitely worth the $20 and no tantrum. Maybe not the place for a first haircut or right before pictures etc. but I haven't found anything better. If anyone knows of a good place...let me know.

To say that the haircuts are bit brisk at times is an overstatement. You could get the same effect at home with a bowl. They basically go around the edge with scissors and you are out of there. One length- one style - one size fits all. If anyone knows where you can get an expert cut for kids in the city - please let me know. I don't mind paying the price but most places that do adults that are good say they won't do kids - not good for their image of charging $80.00 for a cut.

Thank goodness for Snippety Crickets! They do a great job on my son's hair every time and they are super fast. They really know what they are doing with kids. My son is 20 months and has had his hair cut their four times and we will keep going back.

There was no personal service (the stylist didn't even introduce herself), the salon was a shambles with dirty/broken toys around, and the entire ordeal was over in about 5 minutes. If you want a special event - this is not the place.
