Socrates Sculpture Park551
in Long Island City, NY 11106about Socrates Sculpture Park:
The 4.5-acre Socrates Sculpture Park offers open space encircled by rock gardens, specially built walls, walkways, and areas of wild grasses and boulders.
Most of the sculpture/artwork at the Park is created onsite, giving visitors the opportunity to watch art being constructed and meet artists working on site. Major plus for little ones exhausted by the effort of keeping their hands to themselves in museums: children are encouraged to touch and interact with the sculptures!
Summer art programs for kids and families are offered on weekends - and they're free.
