Soulard Historic District, on the
National Register of Historic Places, is located in the Near South Side region of the city and has a strong residential tradition stemming from the influences of German, Irish, Eastern European, and Lebanese immigrants, among others.
Soulard was largely constructed between 1850 to 1890. Federal-, Greek Revival-, Italianate-, Second Empire-, Romanesque-, and Queen Anne-styled homes draw historic-minded residents; the neighborhood's
lively urban streetscape, yearly Mardi Gras celebration and other holiday festivals,
Soulard Market, and nightlife draw visitors.
