about Soulard Market:

Credited by many as that which helped the Soulard Historic District turn from decaying neighborhood to a thriving urban community beginning in the 1970s, Soulard Market offers residents and visitors farm-fresh produce, flowers, bakery items, breads, spices, aparrel stands, a meat shop, and a pet shop.

Some vendors and stands can even boast a multi-generational history: The market was started in the nineteenth century and stands as the oldest farmers market west of the Mississippi River.

tips:

St. Louisans often choose Saturdays to visit the market, which is when most market vendors are present, the hours are longer, and is the only day that the wildly popular Soulard Market's Mini Donuts stand is open. The adjacent lot provides free parking for market patrons.

getting there:

Located at Carroll Street between South 7th and 8th streets, just east of I-55; from the interstate, take 7th Street/Park Avenue exit and follow the signs.
