The South Dade YMCA programs include afterschool, camp, sports, and swimming. Afterschool is for children ages 4 (in pre-K) through 12 years at Pinecrest Elementary School. Programs include homework time, arts & crafts, and indoor/outdoor play. For $29 per week ($30 annual registration fee required to participate) children can enroll in this program from 2pm-6pm, Monday through Friday. Summer camp runs from June 14 through August 21, 2001 and takes place in Pinecrest Park from 7am-6pm (before care 7am-9am, and after care 5pm-6pm at no extra charge) Monday through Friday. Cost to participate is $185 per 2 week session, $105 weekly, or $25 per day. Children participate in field trips (one day per week), arts & crafts, and sports. Swimming takes place at A.D.Barnes Park one day per week. School vacation days are also covered by camp activities. Sports programs include soccer, basketball, baseball, and flag football. Tennis is offered year round with 8 week sessions starting at $80. Swimming classes are offered beginning April 30, 2001. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday, and a package of 8 lessons costs $85. Independent lessons are available for children 6 and older, and parent-child classes for children as young as 6 months.
