about South Florida Science Museum:

The South Florida Science Museum is home to the McGinty Aquarium, Aldrin Planetarium, Gibson Observatory, and features interactive displays, monthly special-event weekends and award-winning exhibitions on robotics, bats and more. Each gallery includes educational information highlighting the unique scientific properties of each hands-on display.

The McGinty Aquarium contains more that 3,000 gallons of saltwater and more than 500 marine fish and invertebrates. It has sharks, moray eels, stingrays, and many other varieties of fish found locally and around the world.

Special programs for younger kids in the Aldrin Planetarium include Space shows at 12n on Saturdays. Daily star shows include the live guided tour of our night skies every day at 2pm.

Teens will enjoy the weekend laser shows, also offered in the Aldrin. Tickets are an additional $5.

The Museum also contains an Ancient Egypt gallery, featuring an authentic mummy from the Roman Period, and funerary artifacts.

Birthday parties and Bar/Bat Mitvahs can be held at the museum. The fee covers the rental room, the museum exhibits and admission for up to 15. The museum is not responsible to set up decorations or to provide food and refreshments. Themed private touch tank, planetarium show, or science theatre show can be added for minimal cost.

Membership options include a $85 Family membership for two adults and all children ages 17 and living in the same household. Benefits include free unlimited admission to the Museum, including the Aldrin Planetarium, the Gibson Observatory, and the Aquarium, free or reduced admission at over 225 other science centers and museums around the state, country, and the world, discounts on Museum Store purchases, subscription to Imaginings, the Museum's newsletter and calendar of events, discounts on program fees and birthday parties, and invitations to exhibit openings and special "member only" events.
