about Southdale Library:

A vibrant whimsical undersea mural with a few playful 3-D jungle elements brightens the children's section at this large library, part of the Hennepin County Library system.

The selection of books for kids at all reading levels is extensive, with distinct sections for younger children and teens. Language learners and native speakers are well-served by a large selection of non-English books. Kids can even read to the library's resident teddy bear, as long as they obey the "do not feed" sign!

The Southdale Library hosts storytimes, reading groups, and music and cultural programming throughout the year. Schedules, and the library's book request system, are readily accessible online.

tips:

There's a 24-hour drive-through book drop on the north side of the building, but unless you disregard the one-way signs that prohibit your return to the ramp out to 70th Street (which many people do), you'll need to traverse the entire parking lot and exit northbound onto York Avenue.

getting there:

Near the Southdale Mall, at the corner of 70th Street, next to the Southdale Service Center. The branch has a large parking lot, and is on several Metro Transit bus lines.
