The tour starts in the gift shop. That should have been our first warning. There are a couple hallways where they have some memorabilia that is interesting, but the house itself is such a HUGE disappointment. They don't tell you until you are in the house that the show was only shot there at the house for exterior shots. The inside of the house looks NOTHING like on TV. They have decorated the house they way they "feel the Ewings would have decorated it." Well, the tour through the rooms was highly dissapointing. The rooms were run down and dirty and needed some SERIOUS updating. If they think this is the way a rich family would decorate, they need a reality check. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were only two other people with my husband and myself. They drive you from one building to another (a distance you could easily walk) while showing you some animals that live on the ranch. After a short speach from the tour guide at the house, you are "free to look around on your own." That's it. The full tour took about 10 minutes. If you are looking for something to do and have nothing else (and you are a Dallas fan), it is ok. It is not expensive and not hard to get to. The interesting part is that they will share with you the tricks of Hollywood and how they made things look bigger and better than they really are. The house itself is MUCH smaller than you imagine it. All in all, it was not a total waste of time, but definitely not was I was hoping or expecting.
