Speed Art Museum, Art Sparks Interactive Gallery551

The Speed Art Museum features more than 13,000 pieces spanning 6,000 years in its permanent collection.

The most exciting part of the museum is the Art Sparks Interactive Gallery, a hands-on art environment for families, where visitors can dance inside a video art work and turn pictures into Pop Art portraits - among other things.

Free, docent-led Especially for Families Tours can be scheduled by prior arrangement with the museum staff.

On any given day, however, visitors can benefit from the Family First Gallery Guide series of brochures packed with information about the museum's collection. Guides are available for the Dutch, Native American, and African collections. The guides also suggest activities that are fun and appropriate for all ages. The guides are available in the information racks around the museum or may be picked up at the main desk.

Throughout the year, the museum offers children's art camps and workshops as well as adult art appreciation classes. The summer camp program is open to kids ages six to 13.
