The Spreckels Organ Pavilion, the giant outdoor pipe organ located in Balboa Park, both fascinates and delights little kids. The organ itself is only visible during concert times, but what a spectacle: it contains 4,518 individual pipes, ranging in size from over 32 feet to just one-quarter inch high.
The concert program usually contains familiar classics and marches, and can be fun for children, especially since it's outdoors and in a relatively unconstrained seating environment.
The free Summer Organ Festival concerts are offered Monday evenings June-August at 7:30pm.
