The most modern campground in the Salt Lake Ranger District,
Spruces Campground is located 9.7 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon. It
can accommodate families as well as groups (up to 150 people) for day or overnight use - overnight groups are limited to 25 people per campsite. Reservations can be made, or campers can take a chance with a first come, first served site. No dogs and no swimming allowed.
The campground is open from the end of May to the middle of October, weather permitting. It has
campsites with tables, grills, and fire circles. Water faucets are located throughout the campground, and flushable vaulted restrooms and central garbage receptacles are provided. Trailers and RVs are welcome, but there are no hook-ups.
Recreational opportunities/facilities available at the campground include hiking, fishing, picnicking, a playing field, a small amphitheater, camping (winter camping by permit only), volleyball courts, wildlife & birdwatching, biking, and horse shoes.

www.ReserveUSA.com. Must mention the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Spruces Campground when registering.
Winter camping season begins in December and runs through the end of March. Permits are required, and reservations can be made by phone after mid-November. During the winter months camping reservations should be made by calling 801.466.6411 instead of using the national 800 number. The permits must be picked up in person by the Wednesday prior to the camping date, and can be picked up at the Public Lands Information Center at 3285 East 3300 South (inside
REI).
