Sets of brass stars and bronze plaques along the sidewalks of the
U-City Loop honor individuals from the St. Louis area who made
major contributions to local and/or national cultural heritage. Each star features the name of an honoree, and an accompanying plaque contains a brief biographical summary. Joe Edwards, proprietor of
Blueberry Hill conceived the attraction in the late 1980s.
Visitors can seek out names like Maya Angelou, Chuck Berry, Redd Foxx, Ulysses S. Grant, Josephine Baker, Tennessee Williams, T.S. Eliot, Bob Costas, Tina Turner, Kevin Kline, Yogi Berra, Dred and Harriet Scott, Joseph Pulitzer, Scott Joplin, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and Phyllis Diller.
