When our daughter, Camille, performs, the first thing you notice about her is the great joy she takes in dancing. This is Camille's seventh year at Star Dance and we began - like all beginners - by learning the studio rules and the purpose of discipline associated with dance training. Once these things become second nature, the true benefits of dancing (beyond those of recreation)start to materialize. For a child like Camille who struggles every day against Dyslexia, dance is not only a form of self expression, it's an opportunity to excel without limitation. We are thrilled that she studies under the direction of Micky Powell at Star Dance and we view Camille's commitment to dance training as an integral part of her journey toward becoming a young woman.

As a student of star dance for over 11 years, all i can say is that my experience has been amazing. I am currently 15 1/2 and i started star dance at the age of 3. Star dance has changed my life. Not only are all my teachers fabulous dancers and great role models, they have also taught my life skills that i have taken beyond the dance studio. Star dance is my home away from home. Since I've been dancing for so long, i have grown up with other kids who have done the same. Through dance i have bonded with some amazing people from other schools that i would never have met otherwise. Star dance has not only taught me dance skills, i have also learned about respecting my piers, taking turns, how to get along with people as part of a unit, and other basic life skills. Star dance has fulfilled all my dancing needs by offering a huge variety of classes. Currently I am taking hip-hop, lyrical jazz, and tap and i have a great time in each of them. I love star dance with all my heart and would not change the experiences i have had there for anything in the world.

When I picked my daughter up from dance today she was beaming, and appreciating some nice compliments you (Micky--Director/Owner of Star Dance) gave her. We both respect you so much, it's hard to imagine her childhood development without the wisdom and encouragement you have provided. Don't think for a minute it goes unnoticed--Star Dance teaches not only dance but important life skills--courtesy, respect, appreciation,love of dance and exercise,the importance of fitness, self-esteem, team spirit and personal responsibility. I can't think of a better place for my daughter to have spent 11 years (so far!!!). Keep up the good work! You have found your mission and we are grateful--to enrich the lives of our children in a way they could not find any place else. Thank you again and always for your support. My daughter has danced at Star Dance for about three years, and overall, I can say it was a positive experience. Yes, there are a lot of rules there, dealing with particular shoes, particular colors, particular leotards. A tomboy can't dance at Star because of the pink leotards and tights rules. It can sort of drive you crazy early on until you learn to go with the flow or just quit. Star has been there a long time and pretty much knows what they are doing, like it or not. . . The teachers are overall quite good and teach the children the joy of dancing. I would observe a few times early on to ensure you think the teacher is good. I sometimes think the classes are a bit large for the littlest ones. I love the fact all ages, sexes and body types are reflected in the stunning year end recital. The recital is really something, and enjoyed by all. My daughter has developed poise, grace and discipline through the experience. So overall, it has been a good time for her.

My daughter has been taking dance clases at Star Dance Studio since she was 3 1/2, she's now 7. I completely disagree with "terrible experience". We have found every teacher and staff member to be kind and caring. The teachers and staff reinforce the rules that we have in our home and at school: be considerate of others, the importance of being on time and sticking with your commitment, and to always do your best. Every other parent and dancer we have encountered at the school has wonderful things to say about it. I think the best part of the whole experience for my daugher is the recital. From the costumes to the venue, it is all amazing. We had 10 people come and see my daugher dance at her recital this past June. Grandma flies in from Boston every year. We expect to have even more fans next year. The end of the year recital is the calibar of at Broadway show. A wonderful experience for the whole family.

I have a daughter in Star Dance, she is 9 now and she is doing a great job. When she stated at Star Dance at the age of three, she was having a great deal of problems in life. Star Dance was not going to keep her with her problems, but with a great deal of hard work and caring by the staff at Star Dance, my daughter made it through that lst year and with the caring at Star Dance has made it past a great many of her problems. I feel that Star Dance put in the extra TLC to get a child started in being part of a group and helping them under that they need to work as a dance group to have a good time. I know that in the 6 years that my daughter & Myself have been part of Star Dance we have learn a great deal about the art of dancing and have made a great deal of FRIENDS that we will have for many years to come. I have been to many other Dance School recitals in the past,and I can tell anyone that wants to hear me that Star has by far the BEST ONE I have ever seen. My Daughter has about 25 people come to watch her every year and only about 6 of them are related, so it must be a great show!!!. I also dance in the family dance with my daughter and I will be 60 years old this year, but they never make me feel too old or too out of shap to get involved. When every my duaghter want to try something else, I tell her she will have to give up something, and she always says she will not give up her dance school(Star Dance). So as long as she wants to go to Star Dance and I can still be in it with her, we will be dancing. She will take classes till she is grow and she wants to help teach when she gets older. I don't know what more a family can ask for from a Dance School, but give their child pride in themself and respect for the arts. IT IS A GREAT SCHOOL!!!!!

I just read the "Terrible Experience" review. Well, my child has been attending Star Dance since she was 4 and she's 13 now. I'm VERY glad they have the rules that they do. My daughter has learned more than just dancing and having fun. She's learned about bounderies, about saying please and thank you, about being responsible for her own things, about being prompt, about making friends and important social skills, and understanding that there are consequences to her actions. Because of their rules and their nurturing teachers, I've always felt that Star Dance is a safe and a very supportive environment for families! All I saw were smiling faces and an incredible dance recital last weekend! I even enjoyed watching the dances that my daughter wasn't in. Maybe next year, I'll be able to talk my husband into dancing in the Family Dance with our daughter. That looked like a lot of fun!

Petty, bureaucratic, mean-spirited school. My daughter is little -- she's had a great time doing ballet for a number of years. But the owners of this school don't appear to care much about the kids who take classes there and pay a bunch of money for the privilege. They care more about their litany of "rules," forgetting that for a 6 year old dance and ballet is more about having fun and learning a new set of skills. We will be done with this school in a matter of days and can't get away fast enough. I will find a better, more supportive environment in which to send my child (and her little sister) to dance class.
