Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Ferry451

We originally planned on taking the ferry to the statue from the NY terminal. I bought the tickets online and everything. Then we decided to stay in NJ and unfortunately had to purchase new ferry tickets because they are not transferable. Poor planning on my part. Make sure you get the time passes for the statue of liberty and get them ahead of time online. If you are going to see the Statue you MUST have these tickets already. I can't tell you how many people we overheard saying they couldn't believe they couldn't go in because they didn't have passes. And it really is a can't miss opportunity. The ferries are very clean and sitting on the open deck was a treat for us and the kids. Make sure you time your arrivals and departures to give yourself plenty of time to explore Ellis Island. However, younger kids may find Ellis Island boring. Overall, leaving from NJ was a great experience and I'm glad we switched it. The terminal was almost empty when we got there mid-morning on a Friday. We were able to get right on the next ferry with no waiting. It was only slightly more crowded when we returned later in the day. And the NJ terminal is beautiful too!
