Stephens on the Avenue151

I wrote a review on here in 2007 regarding Stephen's on the Avenue. At that time, my review of Stephens was just great, until today. I had been seeing Steve since 2005 for cut and color. He does good work. However, the customer service aspect of his salon is something to be desired. I had phoned earlier in the week (Tuesday)to set up an appt. I was given an appointment to come in on Friday July 10, 2009. I couldn't get in on that Friday so I called back on Thursday to change my appointment to Saturday July 11, 2009.
I go to my appointment on Saturday July 11, and I am greeted by a new receptionist ( for some reason, his in house employees keep changing). She tells me there is a wait, and he can now see me on Wednesday of the next week. I ask why and I am told the other stylist, Terry apparently left working the salon on Tuesday, and Steve is taking care of Terry's clients now, and cannot fit me in today.
Keep in mind, I phoned 2x after Terry had left, and I was still given an appointment, twice. Also, it had been raining horribly today, and Stephen's being in German Village he has no parking. I parked a good 2 blocks atleast from the shop, and walked in the pouring rain to get to my appointment with him on time ( I live 30 minutes away anyway by car). I asked the receptionist why if he was so booked up, I wasn't given a courtesy call to let me know my appointment time was now not available. The receptionist tells me that had been calling clients. I recieved no phone call from anyone at Stephen's regarding needing to change my appt. Besides that, I had phoned in myself 2x since Terry had left and was still given an appointment. I thought from where I had been loyal to Steve that he could work me in. Like I said I had frequented his salon for 4 years and dropped atleast 100$ per visit. Steve didn't even bother coming to talk with me, hearing me upset in the reception area. He told the receptionist that he was just too busy to do anything for me. And I was not a walk in, this was my appointment!!
I just couldn't believe he couldn't take the time out to speak with me directly. Needless to say, I just said outloud for him to hear me, " Thanks for 4 years Steve" and left.
I found a new stylist near me. Luckily today I walk in and she gets me in. Come to find out the lady she had just assisted used to frequent Steve too, and had left his salon also.
I think if he wants to keep a recurring clientele, he needs to work on his customer service skills, and not be so quick to dismiss an unhappy, loyal client.
