about Stoner Park:

Stoner Park is probably best known for its unique swimming facility in summer months. The outdoor pool features a wide shoreline effect, allowing kids to make their way gradually into the water without stairs. The largest area is only two to three feet deep and festooned with large, unusually shaped sprinklers and fountains. There is also a shallow lap lane.

A separate pool has a very large, very popular water slide for older kids. Visitors should check with the facility before paying a visit, as opening hours vary all summer long.

The park also has a recreation center with some particularly nice classroom facilities and a stage. Programs include police PAL activities, martial arts classes, gymnastics, and a tiny tots sports class. There are also classes in arts and crafts, dance, drama, music, and mommy and me.

Other facilities at the park include baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, a football field, picnic tables and barbecue pits, tennis courts, volleyball courts, an indoor gym, and a children's play area. The playground got a total overhaul, reopening in 2008 with a small but state of the art facility appropriate for special needs kids. There is both sun and shade, plenty for little ones to do, and there's a big misting umbrella for year-round water play.

LA Parks generally runs a summer day camp program in this park as well.

tips:

Kids are not allowed to wear shirts in the pool, so be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen.
