about Sumner Library:

After two years of restoration and expansion, Sumner Library - an exquisite Tudor-style historic Hennepin County Library location - reopened and is well-worth a visit!

The Teen Zone, right of the main entrance, features fast computers, homework help, and other amenities for teens and tweens. The large, skylit Children's Library has extensive offerings, and "special spaces," including a carefully-restored inviting room for reading storybooks, a cozy Book Nook cubby where children can plop down in bean bag chairs to read, and a Youth Tech computer area.

The North Side Learning Center on the lower level provides academic assistance and tutoring.

tips:

The improvements here extend outside the building too, with a new parking lot, landscaping, sidewalks, bike racks, and reading benches.

getting there:

Three blocks west of Lyndale Avenue North, on the east side of Bethune Park. Metro Transit Route 19 runs on Olson Memorial Highway; Route 9 runs on Glenwood Avenue, three blocks south.
