The Sunken Gardens is considered by many to be a true Florida treasure. The botanical paradise, owned by the city of St. Petersburg, is the oldest commercial tourist attraction on Florida's west coast, and considered to be one of the finest botanical gardens in the United States. Visitors can interact with fragile winged creatures in the butterfly garden, stroll along meandering paths lined with cascading bougainvilla and impressively large Live Oaks, and a massive collection of tropical plants.
Visitors to the gardens can take part in horticultural programs, special events, garden tours, and workshops.
