One of several places where families can rent horses to ride in Griffith Park, Sunset Ranch has access to the Park's equestrian trails from the southern side, and offers wonderful views, from Hollywood to the Pacific Ocean on a clear day.

Children must be at least seven years old to ride. All riders must go with a guide.

Sunset Ranch also offers a really unforgettable experience - a Sunset Dinner Ride. And from the top of a horse, away from the freeway traffic and in the almost wilderness that is Griffith Park.

Every Friday night at 4:30pm, weather permitting of course, guides take groups of riders and horses over the hills to the other side of the park, where they have dinner at a Mexican restaurant, and then ride back in the dark. This ride is for folks 16 years and up. The whole excursion takes four to five hours, and costs $60 a person. It's first-come, first-served; so get to the ranch early.

Or, if you can plan ahead, the experience makes a great party. With reservations for ten people or more, for $60 apiece, the Ranch will take private parties on a Sunset Dinner Ride on any night of the week! Private groups of less than 10 start at $180 a couple.

Tipping for the guides is recommended for all rides at 20 -25%.

Be warned though; you could be pretty sore for a few days!
