- On a recommendation, I drove down here from Seattle with my haircut- leery toddler to try the "KID CUTS" salon. It was AWFUL all the way around. I hadn't been here in years, so I guess I forgot how miserable the parking is (just try to park anywhere near a shop you'd like to go to). The mall itself is one big circle with no shorcuts, so if you head off in the wrong direction or wish to back track you've alot of walking to do. I commute to a nearby city, so I am familiar with the drive, but with a toddler this unfruitful mission was a waste of our time. WE stopped first for lunch in the mostly empty food court. Without going into details, I should have guessed it would be dry and greasy and gave me the queezy feeling that it had been around since the weekend. I know it was just mall food, but even still... Then my boy and I headed off to find the "KID CUTS" salon, which we did in the most vacant feeling area of the mall. It is nestled in amongst several stores that simply sell garbage- bulk figurines, rocks, and some store that looks like its purpose is to clothe streetwalkers. However, I did find about five other mothers there with their children, already waiting. There was only one hairstylist working, but I put my name on the list. We waited for more than an hour and a half. They did have a tiny corner of toys for the kids to pass the time waiting in, but it was way to tiny for even my son to want to wedge his way into. We walked around the bizzare store fronts and the mechanical rides in the hall to pass the time. When we finally got his turn in the chair, I tried to tell the stylist about my son's fear of getting his hair cut- how he doesn't like noises from dryers, shears or being cloaked in a gown and such- but she wasn't listening and wrapped a gown around his neck- which of course set him off immediately. Nor did she bother to listen to me after she asked me how I wanted his hair cut- she cut me off in fact and asked,"number2 ? " I said I didn't know what that was, but.... And then she started showing my kid the running buzzer- which put him over the edge. At this point she told my son that maybe he could do a little shopping with Mom and come back later- as if we hadn't been there long enough. Before I could say anything she was calling the next client. I suppose she just didn't have to bother spending a couple minutes catering to a two year old- she had enough kids lined up to pick and choose. I was so steamed I left before I could I say something I would regret. I highly recommend AVOIDING this place- especially the kids hair salon. The only thing it might have going for it is an interesting carolsel in the mall. Otherwise it's just plain CREEPY.
