This bakery makes truly special cakes for birthday parties or other special occasions. We've seen creations with a full-body Elmo, a jungle scene complete with marzipan palm trees, a princess castle with turrets at each corner, and an Ariel cake complete with shell bikini top. Though expensive, these cakes are beautiful and can really complement a theme.
Made with rum in the recipe, the cake is moist, and though there is no rum taste, the cake is heavier than many children's cakes. The cake batter can be prepared without rum, by special request, but there is an extra charge.
Prices vary depending on the size and complexity of design. When we spoke with the bakers they recommended bringing in a picture of the desired look, and they will give an estimate. Many books are available with pictures of cakes they've previously prepared. Selecting a cake from the existing repertoire saves a little money, as you'll be charged if the bakery needs to make a new pattern.

getting there:
U.S.1 to SW 136th St.(Howard Dr.). Turn left if travelling northbound, or right if travelling southbound on U.S.1. Pass the Falls Shopping Center on the left, and Zany Brainy on the right. After you pass Lavin Baby Center on the right, turn into the next shopping area. Sweet Art by Lucila is near the back of Briar Bay Shopping Center, near Publix.
