Sylvan offers individualized tutoring for children in pre-K though high school. Diagnostic placement tests and personalized curriculum materials provide for realistic goal setting and ensure that children work at an appropriate level and pace. Subjects include math, reading, writing, test preparation, study skills, and SAT/ACT prep.

Sylvan uses a positive motivation program for good work, including tokens and checkbooks for purchases at the Sylvan Store. Teachers confer with parents every 12 hours of instruction and work with your child's school teacher for a coordinated effort meant to optimize your child's success in the program.

The centers provide live online tutoring in reading and math. The online tutoring pairs an instructor and student, who work together, hearing each other through a headset and interacting live over a writable tablet and shared computer interface.
