I heard that there is a proposition to the City of Houston to improve this park. Hooray! There needs to be more trees, a pathway through the trees for walkers/runners and their pets, maybe sports fields (because I hear there aren’t enough in our community), another kids' playground (there's only a small one) and lights for security. The park is not maintained--mowing happens sporadically at best. The walkways that used to exist in the north side of the park and the circle walkway are overgrown (waist hight), full of snakes (watch your toddlers) and mosquitoes and the area acts more like a swamp. Clear Lake needs parks for children and adults who enjoy playing in the outdoors. There are plenty of parks that have “nature” themes such as the close-by Armand Bayou where one can go to enjoy what that kind of park offers. Most people will use parks that are designed for people at play. This one is not used because it is although the theme is attractive the rest is bleak and doesn’t address more of the needs and safety of our community. It probably doesn’t help the property values of people who live near it either. I support a redesign. Shame on you Houston! Are you listening?

This park is great for staring at the night sky, an activity that is nearly extinct in urban areas. The addition of lights would take the stars away from those of us who love its quiet beauty. Lacrosse and other sports can be played in the many sports related parks in the city.

On a first time visit to this park today, I came away thrilled and amazed that there was a place where my family and I could go and actually hear the birds song, watch rabbits along the tree line, chase butterflys and even feed turtles with out being totally surrounded by others. Sure there were other families there, but there is so much open space it was almost like we were the only ones there. Please, leave this wonderful open space alone. I would hate to see the addition of lights, this is one of the only places you can go at night and see stars. There are hundreds of sports parks around, but this one is truly unique. I hope the powers that be leave it as it is.
