Symphony Hall is the home of the
Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, and other musical ensembles. The Hall's first concert took place on Oct. 15, 1900.
The 2,625 seat hall is renowned for its acoustics. The 16 statues of Greek gods and authors adorning niches in the balcony served to give the hall a classical look. Apparently, at the time it was built, Boston considered itself the Athens of America. Symphony Hall is a designated
National Landmark.
