Vinyl boots and Doc Martens? Check. Military surplus? Check. Concert t-shirts? Check. Unique sunglasses? Check. Vintage bowling shirts and party dresses? Check. Teens can find too-cool-for-school - literally, since some items might violate dress codes! - secondhand and vintage wear at Tatters, a Minneapolis institution in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood. Prices are higher than one might expect for used stuff, but no one ever said being that hip comes cheap .... The staff ranges from friendly to imperious to bored, but that goes with the territory. Spend some time shopping there before trying to sell them your own items, to get a better idea of what the store might buy.

Consider biking over to avoid parking hassles - the Midtown Greenway runs through the neighborhood, a block north of the store.

getting there:

Just north of the Lyn-Lake intersection. Metered street parking can be hard to find, particularly on weekends, so be prepared to walk a few blocks - and window shop in the area's other unique stores along the way!
