St. Louisians have been stopping by the small stands of Ted Drewes since 1930 for super-thick, "concrete" frozen custard to beat the summer heat and honor a city tradition. The lines at the windows get really long in the evenings (especially after Cardinals games), but you'll find yourself at the front of the line before you know it.
The sweet-treat stop is the proud winner in the Best Ice Cream Shop category in our 2010 Nick's Parents Picks Awards!
During the winter holiday season the focus shifts from custard to Christmas trees. Ted heads to Nova Scotia each fall to hand-select Canadian balsam fir trees and brings them back to his custard stands in St. Louis. Many families buy their holiday trees at Ted Drewes year after year.
