Yup, Ted's is named for that Ted, of CNN fame, and burgers are king here. The menu features bison or beef patties with a huge number of combinations, including the kitchen sink (grilled ham, mushrooms, onions, fried egg, bacon, and choice of cheese) and the New Mexico (Monterey Jack cheese, Anaheim green chili peppers, and guacamole).

There are plenty of tamer - and healthier - choices on tap, and if red meat is not your thing, each sandwich can be made with a chicken breast instead. The rest of the menu covers comfort food with flair, with blue plate specials offered daily. The hand-battered onion rings are worth the calories.

The kids' menu offers pot roast, meatloaf, salmon, chicken, and a solid mac-and-cheese. Fries, though very good, can be replaced with a vegetable side like sliced tomatoes or broccoli. Lemonade is fresh-squeezed, and milkshakes are the real deal.
