Self-guided tours of the Capitol and grounds are available during building hours. Free guided tours are conducted daily beginning in the South Foyer, featuring an overview of the Capitol's art and architecture, Texas history, and the Texas legislature. Tours generally last about 45 minutes.
The Texas Capitol Visitors Center is a good place to start. The on-site Capitol Grill is open to the public Monday through Friday, 7am-5pm, and the Capitol Gift Shop is open seven days a week.

Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto, between Trinity and San Jacinto Streets at 12th and 13th Streets. Parking is free for the first two hours and $.75 for each half hour thereafter (with a maximum daily charge of $6). Rates are subject to change on weekends during special events. Metered spaces are also available throughout the complex.
