about Texas Capitol Visitors Center:

Self-guided tours of the Texas Capitol and grounds are available during building hours. The Texas Capitol Visitors Center sits on the southeast corner of the Capitol's grounds in the oldest surviving state office structure, dating back to 1856. The center features interactive exhibits, two theaters, travel information, and a Texas gift shop.

getting there:

Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto, between Trinity and San Jacinto Streets at 12th and 13th Streets. Parking is free for the first two hours and $.75 for each half hour thereafter (with a maximum daily charge of $6). Rates are subject to change on weekends during special events. Metered spaces are also available throughout the complex.
