Located in historic Fair Park, the Texas Discovery Gardens is an urban oasis that is open year-round. Within the gardens are ten different themed areas including a butterfly habitat, native wildlife pond, scent garden, shade garden, and heirloom garden.
Family memberships to the TDG are available, and perks include free admission to the garden, plant sale discounts, reduced workshop fees, and invitations to opening receptions.
Texas Discovery Gardens offers afterschool activities and other daytime educational programs for kids in pre-k through eighth grade, including science clubs and scout groups.
Summer programs are also available.

tips:
Picnics are welcome out in the Gardens, but you'll want to leave all food (except for bottled water) in the lobby when visiting the Butterfly House. Strollers are welcome inside the Butterfly House except during peak times (State Fair, festivals). Don't miss our noon butterfly release demonstration--daily inside the butterfly house!
getting there:
Did you know the DART Green Line takes you to Fair Park?
You can exit the Fair Park station or the Martin Luther King station to reach Texas Discovery Gardens.
From North Dallas: Take US 75 South, exit onto I-30 East, then take exit 47 (Second Avenue/Fair Park), curve to the right and turn left at the second light which is Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Enter Gate #6. Just inside the gate, turn right on Second Ave. Enter the parking lot on your right.
From West Dallas: Take I-30 East, then take exit 47 (Second Avenue/Fair Park), curve to the right and turn left at the second light which is Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Enter Gate #6. Just inside the gate, turn right on Second Ave. Enter the parking lot on your right.
From East Dallas: Take I-30 West, then take exit 47C (First Avenue/Fair Park), turn right at Exposition Avenue and turn right on Parry Avenue. Parry becomes Robert B. Cullum Ave. Turn left at the fourth light which is Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Enter Gate #6. Just inside the gate, turn right on Second Ave. Enter the parking lot on your right.
From South Dallas: Take I-45 North, exit onto I-30 East, then take exit 47 (Second Avenue/Fair Park), curve to the right and turn left at the second light which is Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Enter Gate #6. Just inside the gate, turn right on Second Ave. Enter the parking lot on your right.
