The
Textile Center - a national center for the promotion of fiber art - comprises a gallery, store, library, and educational programming (including mobile youth programs).
The
Joan Mondale Gallery hosts special exhibits and events, and works are also displayed in other areas of the building. The
store sells a juried selection of fiber works, including many seasonal decor, ethnic, and gift items. The
on-site library collection includes more than 14,000 titles on fiber arts, and publications, instructional videos, and more. Anyone can visit the library, but only members ($80/family) may check out materials.
The
Textile Mobile brings projects out to the community, and is available for private events and
birthday parties, which can also be held inside the center. Email
Becka Rahn for more information, or call 612.436.0464.
Classes: Most classes offered during the year are geared toward adults, but kids
ages 10 and up are welcome in those marked with an asterisk in the session catalog. Offerings include felting, sewing, basketry, quilting, and other textile media.
Summer camps: One-, two-, and five-day themed programs are offered for ages six to 16 during the summer. Half-day sessions can be combined for a full-day that includes a supervised lunch period. Expect camps to cost about $9/hour.
