Affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution, the B&O Railroad Museum is the central station for all things train-related. Young ones get a kick out of "boarding" old trains and operating model trains, and older kids can pick up interesting history tidbits and and stories about the B&O Railroad, the C&O Railway, the Western Maryland Railway, and the railroads of the mid-Atlantic region. The Museum offers train rides (included in the price of admission) Tuesdays through Sundays, April through December. Train rides are not offered on Mondays throughout the year or during the months of January, February, and March.
You can engineer your own child's birthday party at B&O. Up to 30 little conductors get use of the multipurpose room, a train ride, a party coordinator, and museum admission for all of the guests.
Family Membership starts at $75/year and includes a Welcome Kit on initial sign-up (membership card, window decal, embroidered B&O patch, and introductory museum publication), free admission to the museum throughout the year, subscription to the Roundhouse Review B&O Railroad Museum newsletter, a 10% discount at the B&O Railroad Museum Store, invitations to special programs and members-only events, and advance notice of upcoming activities.
