Selling not only new titles but also used, rare, and out-of-prints books, oft-awarded The Book House is an amazing place to explore.
Collections of children's and illustrated books, literature, poetry, military history, art/architecture, science fiction, cookbooks, philosophy, and mysteries (and more!) are tucked into the nooks and crannies of nine Victorian rooms on three floors, all connected by winding staircases. The "dungeon" is actually the Bargain Basement.
The store schedules several book signings, author readings, and children's events throughout the year.

tips:
Because the store, in an old Victorian house set back from the road, is difficult to see from the street, look for the white sign by the road.
getting there:
The bookstore is located in the Rock Hill Area. From Highway 40 (I-64), take the Mcknight Road exit. Go south on McKnight about a half mile to Manchester Road. Turn right (west) on Manchester and drive a quarter of a mile. The store is on the right (north) side of the road.
