Established in 1971, The Brentwood Art Center has operated at its present location for over twenty-five years.
Approximately 600 children and adult students are signed up for classes here at any one time, and the Center offers a selection of 50 classes per year. Courses in drawing, life drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media are taught by professional artists and trained educators. The student-faculty ratio is 12 to 1.
The Center is actively involved in community outreach, providing art programs for disadvantaged young people. The annual student show draws crowds from the entire metropolitan area. Brentwood Art Center students go on to art schools throughout the country and around the world.
4 week classes begin at $160 for four to five year olds and are an hour long, $200 for five to six year olds, and $225 for classes for kids six years old and up, which last two hours. Classes for teens start at $250.
Day camp programs are also offered for kids ages five to 13 in two- or three-week sessions, for two or three days each per week. Drawing, printmaking, sculpture or painting sessions begin June 25 and run in price from $270-$580 for a two-week session.
A selection of imaginative art projects are available for birthday parties and each guest takes home a finished art piece as their party favor. Parties are two hours long and are offered on Saturdays between the hours of 2pm and 4pm. Art projects take approximately 1.5 hours to complete, and the remaining time is used for refreshments, which are provided by the parents.
The fee for 12 children is $400; each additional child is $20 extra. The maximum number of children is 20. A $75 deposit is required to reserve a date.
