My daughter was also involved in the Annie workshop with Aileen Quinn and it was a fantastic experience! She loved it and has wanted to be a part of as many workshops as possible since. The director of The Broadway Workshop, Marc Tumminelli, is wonderful working with kids; getting them to feel more confident as performers in a safe, supportive atmosphere. I HIGHLY recommend this program!
Our little girl is what I'd call a "gifted amateur." She loves performing in school plays and for family and friends - anything to sing, dance and act. She has taken four or five other Broadway "camps" and classes, and the only one she ever really talks about is the "Wicked" class she took at The Broadway Workshop.
As a parent, I'm obviously very protective, and my biggest concern was that she would be intimidated in class. There were kids with managers who have been on Broadway auditions. I don't think Katie was even aware of that. She had a blast learning from a "real" witch from Wicked on Broadway.
Our child started private coachings with Marc Tumminelli, Director of The Broadway Workshop, about a year ago. Our only goal for him was to get him to speak without being afraid. After one session with Marc, he had already progressed and wanted to do even more.
Marc's rapport with children makes them feel comfortable to express themselves without being self-conscious or self-doubting and his professional knowledge and teaching skills gives them the tools they need to hone their acting abilities. Through the expert coaching sessions and brilliant workshops with Broadway actors and industry professionals, The Broadway Workshop gives kids the skills and confidence needed to do well in the industry. Our son is now friends with some of these actors he's worked with in the workshops!
Our child has tried other similar workshops and found them to offer much less in quality, professionalism, and the all-important "fun factor." And TBW was probably the most affordable. Our child is now signed with a manager after TBW and Random Farms presented a FREE industry workshop for NYC agents, managers, and casting directors to see children and teens. He was offered several contracts from this one event and has now booked several commercials, industrials and is the final callbacks for a Broadway show! He has come a long way from not wanting to open his mouth.
There aren't enough words to describe how completely satisfying the experience with TBW has been for our family. Our child is so outgoing and inspired now and we have Marc and The (AMAZING) Broadway Workshop to thank for his growth.
My daughter has been a part of a few workshops with Broadway Workshop. Most recently she took part in an ANNIE workshop with Aileen Quinn (annie from the movie!) She had such a terrific time, learned a lot and has not stopped talking about it.
All their classes fill up very quickly so I feel lucky to have even gotten her in.
