Facing a picturesque lake and fountain inside
Faust Park,
The Butterfly House, a division of the
Missouri Botanical Garden, is housed in a soaring glass conservatory.
More than
one thousand live tropical butterflies fly freely here, and if you're lucky, one might alight gently on your shoulder. Native and migrating species can also be seen in the outdoor gardens of the Native Habitat.
Craft Saturdays (11am-2pm) is a creative monthly event for children; Bugaloo drop-in programs for children ages two to four with their parents celebrate the animal world with fun books, real animals, learning games and other hands-on discoveries.
The Education Center is of great value to educators and homeschooling parents: The Homeschool Academy offers a wealth of insect and science classes for homeschooled students ages six to eight.
From Memorial Day-Labor Day, the Butterfly House stays open late and offers half-price admission each Wednesday between 5pm-7pm.
The Butterfly House can host children's birthday parties on weekends between May and Septemeber. Party packages are designed for children ages three to eight, feature hour-long activities, and cost $200 per party for up to 20 children plus accompanying adults.
