The Center for Contemporary Dance, formerly U-Turn Dance Center, is Central Florida's premier nonprofit center for contemporary dance and the arts. Home to three professional contemporary dance companies, a school of dance education and an art gallery, the center develops programs specific to the needs of our community through inspiring productions, innovative arts-education programs and active community outreach. U-Turn Dance performs programs for various children?s organizations, homeless shelters, public schools, the disabled, and many more. U-Turn Dance currently develops and produces work for U-Turn Dance Company, UTD2 and U-Turn Dance?s Artist in Residence, Patelworks Dance Theater. Additionally, the company?s school of dance provides a sophisticated forum in which aspiring dancers explore and practice the multi-disciplinary art of movement. The Center functions as a place of higher learning based on the National Standards for Dance Education, offering training in the dance arts, including classes in technique, composition, performance and artistic development.
